Recruitment in the academic year 2019/20

There is no recruitment in the academic year 2019/20 for the specialization Pure And Applied Mathematics in English.

You may choose a Master's Degree programme in Polish - see Annex No. 132 to the Resolution of the Jagiellonian University Senate  No. 50 / VI / 2019 of June 26, 2019:

• Finanancial Mathematics,
• Applied Mathematics,
• Pure Mathematics
• Teaching of Mathematics.

The programme of study comprises 125 ECTS (=1059 hours of classes) spread over two years of study.

The programme of study comprises 125 ECTS (=1059 hours of classes) spread over two years of study.

Recruitment in the academic year 2016/17

The programme of study comprises 125 ECTS (=1039 hours of classes) spread over two years of study.

The objective of the programme is to provide the students with such a knowledge, problem solving skills and insight in mathematics that they are able to work professionally in different areas of mathematics or to use mathematical tools in the sectors of industry, information technology or finance. The programme also provides a good basis for PhD studies in mathematics.

A graduate of the programme:

• has the deep and comprehensive knowledge of mathematics and its applications,
• has the knowledge and understanding of the role of logical argumentation and deductive reasoning, including formal proofs
• has the ability of creating and testing mathematical conjectures
• has the ability of explaining and conveying mathematical subjects
• can build and use mathematical models
• can use advanced computer-aided methods
• is prepared to continue studies at PhD level.

• English as language of instruction in both years
• examinations may be conducted either in English or in Polish
• Master Thesis may be written either in English or in Polish
